Character descriptions for David and Lisa

In order of appearance

Not all of these things are true through the whole play.  Not all physical descriptions need to match.

David Clemens: a student, tall, thin, well dressed, observant, very bright,  looks for the negative, thinks that if he is touched he will die (Haphephobia)

Mrs. Clemens: David’s mother, pretty, slender, early 40’s, well dressed, over powering, smothering, over dramatic

Porter: professional

Secretary: nice, professional

Dr. Alan Swinford: head of the school, late 40’s, caring, always means well, authoritative, friendly

Mrs. Ferris: the house keeper, can’t stand messes, sweet, even tempered, optimistic

Josette: a girl student, the “tough one”, unwelcoming, likes to pick fights

Carlos: a student, Puerto Rican, a potty mouth, thinks he’s “all that”

Sandra: a student, shy, clingy, drama queen, clueless

Simon: a student, intellectual, plays an instrument, short, easily upset

Kate: a student, flirty, likes to get her way, like from a soap opera

Lisa: a student, beautiful, 15,  multiple personalities disorder (Dissociative Disorder), childish, speaks in rhyme or doesn’t speak at all

Barbara: a teacher, early 40’s, encouraging, loves her job, good at problem solving

Ben: a house parent, observant, wants to be helpful, positive, reassuring

Robert: a student, judgmental, wise guy

John: Lisa’s therapist, 35, gentle, observant

Mr. Clemens: David’s father, short tempered, no-nonsense, successful, doesn’t like to be told what to do.

Girl: 7 or 8, happy, naïve

Woman: girl’s mother, sloppy, coarse, uneducated

First boy and Second boy: 15, street gangsters
